TRIBUNLOMBOK.COM, SUMBAWA - PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMMAN), one of Indonesia’s largest copper and gold mining operations, has been officially recognized by the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) for its substantial contributions to child protection across 16 villages in West Sumbawa Regency (KSB).

The award was presented during the Forum Inspirasi Daerah BERANI II, coinciding with the NTB Anniversary celebrations. The accolade underscores AMMAN’s collaborative commitment in conjunction with local governments and development partners, including the CARE Peduli Foundation, LPA NTB, and a UN consortium comprising United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and UN Women.

Governor of NTB, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, commended the initiative as a benchmark for systematic and sustainable collaboration, particularly through the strengthening of Village Regulations for Peraturan Desa Ramah Perempuan dan Peduli Anak or Women-Friendly and Child-Provider Villages (DRPPA).

“This award is a testament to AMMAN’s tangible commitment. Their efforts are systematic, integrated, and institutionalized, ensuring that child protection is reinforced at the grassroots level. This is an exemplary model of collaboration, and the key to breaking the cycle of child marriage to ensure a brighter future for the next generation of NTB,” Iqbal stated.

Priyo Pramono, Vice President of Social Impact at AMMAN, underscored the company’s multifaceted approach to social impact, extending beyond economic contributions to the very fabric of community well-being.

“Child protection stands as the bedrock upon which a healthy society is built. We are resolute in our commitment to creating a secure environment in West Sumbawa Regency (KSB), ensuring that no child’s future is compromised by early marriage or violence,” emphasized Pramono.

“Through the strengthening of village policies and the provision of training to paralegals, we are constructing a protective shield while simultaneously fostering pathways for their aspirations,” continued Pramono.

Pramono highlighted the significant impact of AMMAN’s child protection efforts on health and optimal growth. The Stunting Reduction Acceleration Program successfully reached 436 children in mine-affected areas, addressing issues of stunting, underweight, and wasting.

Notably, the program achieved remarkable results, with 32 persen of children recovering from stunting, and 86-98?hieving normal weight gain.

These collaborative endeavors played a pivotal role in West Sumbawa Regency achieving the “Madya” level as a Child-Friendly Regency (KLA) in 2025. Furthermore, KSB now holds the distinction of having the lowest stunting rate in NTB Province.

In the legal sector, AMMAN facilitated the issuance of DRPPA Village Regulations in 16 villages, trained 78 paralegal cadres, and developed 29 child facilitators. This successful model has since been replicated by the KSB Government in 18 additional villages, utilizing local village funds (APBDes).

On the preventive front, the “Lingkar Remaja” (Youth Circle) program has engaged 426 junior and senior high school students. This initiative provides comprehensive education on adolescent reproductive health and anemia prevention, empowering young girls to resist early marriage.

Through this integrated approach, which seamlessly combines regulation, education, and community support, AMMAN demonstrates that business sustainability is intrinsically linked to safeguarding the future of the younger generation.
